Dear parents and carers of children at Stepney Park Primary School.

Ramadan

As we approach Ramadan, anticipated to start around March 1st, we are committed to supporting our Muslim families. We have collaborated with community partners to provide guidance and support for pupils who plan to fast.

 

We understand that fasting becomes obligatory upon reaching puberty, according to Islamic law, and we are ready to support pupils in Years 5 and 6 who choose to fast. For younger children, we kindly request that parents refrain from allowing them to fast on school days, prioritising their health and safety.

We encourage open conversations at home about the importance of sensitivity when discussing fasting at school, ensuring a supportive environment for all.

 

 

If your child in Year 5 or 6 plans to fast, please inform us, preferably before the start of Ramadan or on their first fasting day. This will allow us to monitor their well-being and provide timely support. We will contact you if your child shows signs of illness and will sensitively assist them in breaking their fast if needed. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
