Year 6 Chess League

Year 6 have started a Year 6 Chess League every Tuesday lunchtime and there are currently 20 children taking part. The league is very competitive but played in good spirit. Lots of the children are demonstrating impressive strategies for winning a match. A Year 6 girl’s chess club also runs on Thursday lunchtime. Lots of these girls are using their ‘Gold’ Chesskid accounts to complete online lessons and quizzes as they have a real desire to improve their chess skills.

The Global Chess League.

Last week, the Global Chess League took place in London. Here, the best players in the world were competing in teams for a one million pound prize! We were lucky enough to be invited to watch some of these matches being played live in a TV studio and then to have lessons from some of the Grandmasters taking part. It was a wonderful day and the children and adults that took part had a fantastic time.
