Dear parents and carers of Stepney Park Primary School.
Strike Action
You may be aware that teachers have been called to further strike action by the NEU teachers’ union. Teachers are taking part in strike action as they are asking the Government for a pay rise in line with inflation; they are also asking the Government to fully fund this potential pay rise, instead of passing the cost onto schools.
Only the following classes will be open on the strike days:
Please note that, following DFE guidance, children whose classes are open need to attend school, even if the classes of their siblings are closed. Unless a valid reason for absence such as illness has been given, the attendance would need to be recorded as unauthorised. Breakfast and after school clubs should run as normal on that day.
Parents whose children are entitled to a free school meal but whose classes are not open will be offered a free packed lunch. Parents will need to order this by completing the Google Form which will be sent to them by our admin team.
Thank you for your understanding.
Other school closures:
Please note that school will be closed for an occasional closure day tomorrow, Friday Apr 21st.
School will also be closed for the bank holidays on May 2nd and May 8th.
Eid celebrations:
Please remember that we will have our Eid celebrations on Tuesday Apr 25th. On this day we will have a special Eid lunch, children can come to school in their Eid clothes that day, and they will have a class party in the afternoon. After school there will be a family event in the playground. Please donate food for this; we will then sell this food for £1.00 per plate in order to raise money for charity. Food can be taken to the old Redlands school small entrance in Redman’s road. Please come along and celebrate Eid with us!
We wish our Muslim families ‘Eid Mubarak’.
Kind regards,
Edith Philipsen
